As President of this all-volunteer Board of Directors, and in support of our dedicated staff who work tirelessly to serve our participants, we share an enthusiastic thank you. Our Housewarming Party was a rousing success!
Not only did the number of guests exceed our expectations (nearly 400!) their support of our development of the former police station into a Senior and Community Center for all ages was clearly unanimous and passionate!
It was also very successful in helping us raise needed funds which will be used to make further safety and security modifications to the facility. Not only do we owe our thanks to the attending guests, but we are also very grateful to the nearly 30 local eateries who provided samples of their cuisine and beverages and another 35+ donors/ businesses who gave baskets of gifts for our raffles.
All efforts helped us raise over $9,600 and counting.
Perhaps most importantly was that our guests included people of all ages, from elementary kids, teenagers, young adults to older adults, all interacting and enjoying one another. This certainly exemplifies our new Mission statement, which is: “To promote the well-being of our Senior Community – improve their quality of life and extend independent living by fully integrating the whole community“.
The Board’s vision is to provide a gathering place for aged and disabled Oswegoland residents and their families. While interacting with a culturally diverse group of people of all ages, they will engage, together, in lifespan learning, recreation and social services all under “one accessible roof”.
The first step in fulfilling our vision is to ensure that our new building is safe and secure. We want to expedite the move, but we want to do it right so that when we are there, we can all benefit from the building’s improvements. We will keep you posted for our move-in date!
